Habitat For Aviation

Habitat for Aviation is a nonprofit based in Vermont. It runs an apprenticeship program for youth who want careers in aviation. The program trains airplane mechanics, avionics specialists, and pilots.

The program aims to close a workforce gap. The site says the industry has too few qualified maintainers to support growth. The group wants to bring more young people into aircraft maintenance and avionics work.

Youth and adults work side by side on real aircraft. The aircraft are returned to service after the work is done. Mentors guide the trainees. The program puts a focus on girls, women, and people who have been underrepresented in aviation.
