Voice of business aviation in Germany since 1970
About German Business Aviation Association
The German Business Aviation Association e.V. (GBAA) represents business aviation in Germany and has more than 100 members. Founded in 1970 as the Arbeitskreis Geschaftsluftfahrt within the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and entered in the register of associations in 2001, it is based at Georg-Wulf-Strasse 2, 12529 Schonefeld, next to Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Its members span flight operators, handling and maintenance companies, aircraft manufacturers, corporate flight departments, consultants and service providers, and the association describes itself as the strong voice of German business aviation under the motto one association, one voice, one future. The board is chaired by Peter Gatz with Dr Winthir Brunnenbauer as board member and Andreas Mundsinger as managing director.
Role
- Representing members' interests before legislators and aviation authorities in Germany and Europe, acting as the interface between lawmakers, members and regulators, including petitions and engagement with political representatives
- Promoting safe, efficient and sustainable flight operations and the transformation to sustainable aviation, working with IMPACT on sustainable aviation e.V. on common standards and practices for decarbonisation
- Connecting interests and promoting innovation as a bridge builder between new technology and regulation
- Networking, member updates, events and marketing packages, with a membership application process open to companies across the sector
Why business aviation matters
Member testimonials on the site stress that individual companies are rarely heard in politics but gain influence at association level, that business aircraft connect European economic regions directly and give regional exporters access without detours via large hubs, and that GBAA membership provides a valuable network, regular updates and business opportunities. Quoted members include Atlas Air Service, the AeroVisto Group, Besso Grimme Insurance Broker and IMPACT on sustainable aviation, and the association is also active on sustainability and social responsibility.
