About Fukuoka Foreign Investment Promotion Center

The Fukuoka Foreign Investment Promotion Center, also called Invest Fukuoka, is a government agency in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It helps foreign companies that want to invest or grow in Fukuoka. It was set up in November 2002.

The center gives international companies information and hands-on help. It shares facts on real estate such as offices, warehouses and plants. It also covers infrastructure, labor, possible local partners, and prefecture and city incentives. It helps companies find factory and office sites. It runs business matching for firms that want to partner with Fukuoka companies. It also offers long-term business support. The prefecture says it wants to build core industrial clusters and help them grow over time.

Fukuoka has two international airports, Fukuoka International Airport and Kitakyushu International Airport. Fukuoka International Airport is about 10 minutes from the city center. It ranks fourth in Japan for air trade. In 2026 it earned a five-star Skytrax rating.

The region also has two ports that are among the top ports in the world by container volume. Kyushu has a network of highways and railways. The Shinkansen bullet train links Hakata to Osaka in 2.5 hours and to Tokyo in 5 hours.

Fukuoka has a large economy, with a GDP similar to that of Ireland and the Czech Republic. It has firm ties to growing markets in East Asia. The prefecture has more than 123 thousand students, including 15,103 foreign students from over 91 countries and regions. Foreign residents make up almost 1 percent of the population. The center says costs are much lower than in Tokyo, Osaka or Nagoya.

The center also keeps lists of key industrial projects, incentives and global companies already based in Fukuoka. It has offices in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, the San Francisco area, Seoul and Frankfurt. Recent news covers a prefecture goal of 600 billion yen in semiconductor and auto investment, a planned Vestas production base in Kitakyushu and stronger data center incentives in Kitakyushu.
