About Frontgrade Gaisler

Frontgrade Gaisler makes computer chips and software for space and other demanding uses. It is part of Frontgrade Technologies and has its office in Gothenburg, Sweden. It has been in business since 2001. Its main line is radiation hardened electronics that keep working in tough conditions.

The company serves civil space, commercial space, defense, security, artificial intelligence, and industrial and safety work. It says its technology has traveled across the solar system. For commercial space, it offers computing platforms that can scale across networks of satellites. For defense, it offers secure processing platforms.

Its products fall into four groups. Rad hard electronics include microprocessors, microcontrollers and interconnect parts. Silicon IP includes the NOEL RISC-V and LEON SPARC processor families and the GRLIB library. The software group supports those processors with flight qualified software, operating systems and utilities. The development and test group has debug tools, simulators and bridges for SpaceWire, telemetry and telecommand links.

One page describes the GR801, a chip in development for artificial intelligence in space. It joins a neuromorphic engine from BrainChip with a NOEL-V processor. The company says the page describes work in development, so no promise is made about future availability.

The software pages list support for VxWorks, Linux, RTEMS and Zephyr. The website lists a phone number, a contact form and an upcoming event, NextSpace 2026 in Gothenburg on 8 and 9 November.
