Flying Eyes Optics
Sunglasses with flexible temples built for headsets and helmets
About Flying Eyes Optics
Flying Eyes Optics designs and sells prescription and non-prescription sunglasses engineered to fit under aviation headsets and motorcycle helmets. The company was founded by a pilot who found that, as headset ear cups became tighter to reduce noise passively, the rigid temples of ordinary sunglasses caused pain and let noise leak into the ear seal. The result was a frame built around millimetre-thin, flexible temples that conform to the head rather than hooking around the ears, so glasses can be put on and taken off while wearing a headset or helmet. The same design proved useful for motorcyclists and cyclists, who often wore no sun protection under full helmets, and the company describes itself as a group of pilots, motorcyclists and adventurers.
Products
- Resilamide flexible frames with patented 1 mm one-piece temples that remove pressure points without breaking the noise seal
- Shatterproof polycarbonate lenses with 100 percent UV400 protection, offered in solid, gradient, mirrored, high-contrast, photochromic and polarised options, with lenses that avoid polarisation hazards for pilots by default
- Prescription eyewear, including frames supplied with clear lenses or without lenses for local prescription fitting, magnetic tinted fronts, and non-prescription bifocals and readers
- Model families such as the Athene, Kestrel, Osprey and Kingfisher ranges, and the Cassowary cycling frame in standard and narrow sizes with adjustable nose pads
- Every pair ships with a hard case, microfibre bag and cloth, backed by a lifetime frame warranty, a one-year lens warranty, a 30-day return policy and in-house customer service
