Emesent
SLAM-based LiDAR mapping for inaccessible environments
About Emesent
Emesent makes lidar mapping hardware and software. Its products scan buildings, mines, roads and other sites in three dimensions. The site says the scanners keep working where GPS drops out. Emesent was founded in 2018 after about a decade of research at the Robotics and Autonomous Systems arm of CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.
The GX1 is an all-in-one scanner. The site describes it as a SLAM, RTK, 360 degree panorama and lidar scanner. It can be carried by hand, worn as a backpack, mounted on a pole or fitted to a vehicle. Hovermap is a smart mobile scanning unit. It can be used by hand or mounted on a drone or vehicle, and the site says it is built for GPS-denied environments.
The software side includes Aura, which turns raw scans into point cloud visualizations. Commander plans and watches remote autonomous, pilot assisted or ground based mapping missions. Cortex is the autonomy engine that enables Hovermap flight and GX1 SLAM. The site says Cortex is not sold as a separate product.
The site lists accessories such as a 360 degree image kit, RTK units for backpacks, drones and vehicles, a CMS mount and a long range radio. It also lists robotics platforms that work with its software, including the Boston Dynamics Spot robot, the DJI M350 drone and the Freefly Astro Max drone.
The site lists industries including architecture, engineering and construction, mining, defense, public safety, oil and gas and geospatial work. Use cases include scan to BIM, bridge inspection, topographic surveys, open pit mine mapping and stockpile measurement. The site reports more than 2,100 active users, customers in more than 50 countries, more than 65 reseller locations and more than 110 team members.
The website has a resource center with a blog, case studies, datasets, events, webinars and videos. It also has a client portal, an academy and a partner portal. Visitors can book a demo, request pricing, find a reseller or refer a peer. Phone numbers are listed for three countries.
