About Eastern Airlines

Eastern Airlines is a United States airline that flies passengers and cargo on Boeing wide-body jets. It runs scheduled passenger service between Miami, Florida, and the cities of Santo Domingo and Havana. It also offers flights for short and long term travel needs of businesses and organizations. A cargo network handles freight.

The company is owned by Eastern Air Holdings. The current fleet is made up of Boeing 777 and Boeing 767 aircraft. The airline says it plans to add more aircraft. The 777 is described as a wide-body jet with modern avionics, suited to long-haul passenger flights. The 767 has several seating setups and is used for medium and long-haul passenger and cargo flights.

The Eastern name has a long history. The original Eastern Airlines was founded in 1926. By 1930 it had become one of the Big Four domestic airlines in the United States. It kept that standing until it stopped flying in 1991.

A new chapter began in 2010, when Dynamic International Airways was set up with Boeing 767 aircraft. In 2014 the Eastern name returned with Boeing 737-800 jets. That effort was short lived, and the assets moved to Swift Air in 2017. In 2018 Dynamic International Airways bought the Eastern Airlines name and rebranded itself.

In 2022 the airline gained ETOPS certification and added Boeing 777-200 aircraft. ETOPS is a rating that lets twin-engine jets fly long routes far from airports. In 2023 Eastern Air Holdings bought Hillwood Airways and renamed it Eastern Air Express. The company moved its headquarters to the old TWA Administrative Building in Kansas City.

The company names safety, punctuality and customer satisfaction as its priorities. It says its team works around the clock, from flight crews and maintenance staff to dispatch and office teams. It stresses long term relationships with clients.

The website has a careers section. Eastern says it is growing and looking for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and office staff. A contact form and customer support email are also on the site.
