About EANS

Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) is a public limited company owned entirely by the Republic of Estonia. It operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Climate. The company is responsible for providing air navigation services within the Tallinn Flight Information Region, overseeing 77,080 square kilometers of airspace. This includes managing air traffic over Estonia and adjacent areas.

EANS provides a range of services to support safe and efficient aviation operations. Their primary activity is air traffic control, aiming to ensure the safety and prevention of collisions between aircraft and ground obstacles. In addition, EANS offers aeronautical information services, which include data essential for flight planning and operations.

The company also engages in technological services that cover air traffic management systems, communications, navigation, radio surveillance, and other technical support. These systems are designed to be highly reliable, redundant, and continuously monitored to maintain accuracy and security. EANS emphasizes development activities to maintain competitive and sustainable air navigation services. This includes innovative projects like remote tower operations and unmanned traffic management (UTM) for drones.

EANS serves an average of 415 flights per day in the winter and 557 flights per day in the summer, with a total of 181,522 flights recorded in their airspace during 2025. About 75 percent of these flights were overflights, indicating the importance of Estonian airspace as a transit corridor. Finnair is noted as one of its major customers.

The company employs around 202 people, 83 percent of whom are aviation experts. Its technical infrastructure is supported by sustainable energy, including solar panels. EANS holds certifications such as the Air Navigation Service (ANS) provider certificate under EU Regulation 2017/373 and ISO 9001:2015 for quality management. It is a member of the Borealis Alliance and collaborates with various aviation organizations.

Headquartered in Rae village in Harju County, Estonia, EANS maintains 24/7 operations to ensure airspace safety. Its services also cover unit and continuation training and flight procedure design. The company focuses on safe and smart guidance in both Estonian and European skies, combining Estonia’s advanced digital expertise with aviation development.

In addition to traditional air traffic control, EANS actively supports unmanned aviation and ongoing research and development in air traffic management to enhance efficiency and safety.
