The airpark is owned and operated by the Montgomery County Revenue Authority. It opened in 1960 and is a reliever airport for Reagan National Airport. The site says the airpark handles more than 100,000 operations each year. A ten minute cab ride from the Shady Grove Metro station brings visitors to the field.

Fuel, hangars and storage are a large part of the business. The site lists 100LL self serve fuel that is open 24 hours a day. A line service technician is on duty from 7am to 7pm. The company rents hangars and tie down spaces on short and long term terms. A new transient hangar is 8,000 square feet and can take an aircraft with a tail height of 22 feet.
