BNAE

BNAE, the Bureau of Aeronautics and Space Standardization, is the official body in France that develops standards for the aeronautical and space fields.

It works at national, European and international levels. BNAE describes itself as the key platform for reaching the main streams of aeronautical and space standardization. It advises, guides and supports companies at every step of their standards projects.

The organisation runs standards committees made up of experts. Each committee covers a topic. Examples include configuration management and integrated logistics support with obsolescence management. Expert groups sit inside these committees. One predictive maintenance group published a white paper that will form the basis of a guide on the subject.

BNAE keeps a catalogue of standards and publications. Users can search it and view all publications. Many entries are available in French and English. The organisation also publishes the RG.Aero general aviation recommendations. One of these covers the life cycle of a product and the documents that go with it. It helps match the rules in other standard documents.

The organisation shares news, resources and an annual activity report. Its 2025 activity report was published in July 2026. Committees meet at industry sites, and one meeting on configuration management took place at the SAFRAN Villaroche site.

BNAE invites industry experts to join its commissions and take part in standards work. It says this gives people a chance to shape future standards and meet other experts.
