APIUM Swarm Robotics

Apium Swarm Robotics is a California-based developer of distributed control systems for autonomous swarming drones and uncrewed surface vessels. Red Cat Holdings has acquired the company, and Apium now operates as an independent Red Cat company. The site uses the tagline One to Many.

The company says its software lets one operator command many drones as easily as one. The technology can turn a single robot into a swarm ready robot by using existing platforms. The site calls this approach a way to get outsized effects from current systems.

The site describes decentralized autonomy. Robots in a swarm divide roles, synchronize and adapt to changing conditions without any central node or master. The technology works with homogeneous or heterogeneous robots in a range of environments.

Applications on the site include persistent mobile surveillance and security, wildfire detection and suppression, forestry management, search and rescue, oil spill monitoring, remote sensing on land and at sea, and seafloor mapping.

The company says its products support contested and communication-degraded environments. It also says Apium has signed a Memorandum of Agreement to join the Red Cat Futures Initiative. The initiative is an industry consortium for robotics and autonomous systems aimed at tactical drones.

Red Cat describes itself as an end-to-end drone solutions company based in the United States. The site has a contact form for product questions and sales support, along with options for careers, press inquiries and other questions. Apium's privacy policy and terms of use are published on the site.
