Amacarga

Amacarga is a Mexican association of freight forwarders, known in Spanish as agentes de carga. The site says it was founded on 13 May 1986 and has more than 400 member companies in Mexico. It speaks for its members with chambers, associations, Mexican authorities and foreign trade suppliers.

The members move about 85 thousand tons of industrial goods each year. The association says this supports the timely production of goods and services and carries products made in Mexico to many international markets. The site explains that a freight agent acts as an intermediary between the shipper and the carrier and handles logistics, administrative, tax and legal work for the cargo.

Amacarga states that it is recognised by FIATA, the international federation of freight forwarder associations, and by ALACAT in Latin America. It says it is the only association recognised at international level by FIATA. It also says it works to place the freight agent as a logistics operator in the supply chain.

Its mission is to represent freight agents through a model that supports foreign trade through participation, training and new ideas. Its goal is to build the business skills of freight agents. The association worked with the Ministry of Economy and two other groups, ANIERM and ANERPV, on labor competency standards for international freight agents. These were published in the Diario Oficial. The three standards cover pricing, land transport by truck and rail, and sea and air transport.
