Air Ambulance Network

Air Ambulance Network arranges medical transport for patients and families. It has done this since 1971 and is based in Punta Gorda, Florida. One coordinator handles your case from the first call to the handover at the receiving facility.

Services

• Air ambulance flights on aircraft set up as flying intensive care units, with cardiac monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, oxygen and emergency drugs on board
• Commercial medical escort (CME): a medical professional travels with the patient on an airline flight
• International commercial stretcher service on airlines, a lower cost option for stable patients
• Basic and cardiac life support through to critical care, bedside to bedside
• Help with insurance, and payment by card, bank transfer, cheque, most health insurance and Medicaid in some states

Aircraft

• Twin piston aircraft such as the Cessna 421, Cessna 414 and Piper Navajo for trips under about 500 miles
• Turboprops such as the Beech King Air and Piper Cheyenne for trips under about 900 miles
• Jets, including Learjets, with two pilots for longer and faster trips

Medical team

Flight teams have one to three members, chosen by the medical director to fit the patient. They are critical care registered nurses, critical care flight nurses, critical care paramedics and registered respiratory therapists. A physician joins for unstable, paediatric or neonatal cases. Medical operations are supervised by Dr. Stanley Thomas, an emergency medicine physician.
