The best longest-range single pilot light jet flying in more than 30 countries – the “Embraer 300 Phenom”. The popularity of this light jet continues to grow since 2009. This jet design magnifies the Embraer’s unique workmanship yet provides luxury comfort for the jet setters. Let’s discuss the tech, interior design, acquisition cost, and operating cost of this elegant bird before buying.
OVERVIEW OF THE EMBRAER PHENOM 300
GENERAL INTRODUCTION
The manufacturer, Embraer, started designing this light jet after customer’s feedback of the Phenom 100 light jet. The need for a bigger version of a light jet that can operate at smaller airports was the initial idea behind this bird.
Currently, there are over 600 Embraer Phenom 300 jets and they are successfully running their 12-year service providing service in over 30 countries. There are two new variants of the “Embraer Phenom 300E & 300MED” that were introduced to the aviation market during the last five years.

TECH DETAIL
As per the type certificate, this business jet is referred to as the EMB-505. The name “Phenom 300” is the famous market phrase given by the manufacturer following its initial design of the Phenom 100 series.
The Embraer Phenom 300 has a normal range of 1811 nm and Max. range of 2077 nm with a max speed of 453 kts.
It can easily accommodate seven passengers and a crew of two. This small jet has a length of about 51 inches and two internal and external baggage compartments that can hold 19ft3 and 66ft3 of luggage, respectively.
The Embraer Phenom is designed as a low wing with a T-tail configuration and is powered by two Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines. The aircraft structure is a conventional design with a predominant aluminum alloy on the fuselage and wings.
The flight deck is equipped with a Prodigy touch flight deck 300, which is based on the Garmin G1000 system. The interior of the Phenom 300 measures 17.2 feet long, 5.2 feet wide, and 4.9 feet tall. This includes a refreshment center and a lavatory apart from the seat configuration.
VARIANTS
An enhanced version of the Embraer Phenom 300 was introduced in 2017 as the Embraer Phenom 300E, offering performance, comfort, and technology updates.
When considering 300E performance, each engine produces extra thrust, reduces its noise footprint, and has fewer emissions. The speed has increased from 300E to 464kts with a maximum operating altitude of 45,000ft.
The existing flight deck avionics system was updated with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite. The seat track has been increased by 40%, and the flight has been outfitted with cutting-edge technology such as FAA data communications, emergency descent mode, TOLD-integrated take-off and landing computer, ADS-B in and out, charts and maps, synthetic vision system (SVS), aircraft health analysis and diagnosis (AHEAD), Surface Watch, and a central maintenance computer (CMC) for rapid fault location and isolation.
The cabin compartment is enhanced with a 5.23m long, oval-shaped cabin that offers reduced noise, more headroom, and aisle space. The Phenom 300MED version came onto the market in late 2020, enabling the cabin to use one or two stretchers and additional medical equipment. This version is designed especially for medical evacuation processes.

FINANCIAL ASPECTS
The preowned Embraer Phenom 300 price is around $7.20-$8.50 million for models manufactured from 2016 to 2020. The overall average price is $6.5 million. The annual operating cost is $921,408 per flying 400 hours, and the fixed cost per flying 400 hours per annum is $341,959. The total operating cost mentioned above is determined by the variable cost of fuel (typically $4.40/gal), oil, maintenance (engine overhaul and life-limited parts), crew cost, fixed cost of insurance, jet depreciation (4% per jet), hangar charges, and other factors. So, the Embraer Phenom 300 operating cost per hour would be around $2,368.
The above-discussed acquisition price and operating costs depend on the current condition and the manufacturer’s year of the aircraft. So, first select the desired jet model from approved dealers or online Embraer Phenom 300 sales sites like Avbuyer, Globalair, Altivation, and Controller. If not, it is better to meet an aviation expert or existing owner for the assistant. There are some online aircraft cost evaluation sites like Conklin & Decker cost evaluator and aircraft cost calculator that can analyze the prices per your model. So, it is good practice to know all these financial aspects before you step into the buying process.

PROS & CONS
When compared with the competitors, the Embraer Phenom 300 has a similar acquisition cost but has a lower operating cost. Not only that, but it outperforms competitors such as the Cessna CJ4 in terms of value retention and dispatch reliability.
The single point of refueling and externally serviced lavatory in maintenance operations will reduce TAT (turnaround time). The 10-year (120-month) inspection schedule of the Embraer Phnom 300 is quite economical as it overhauls and repairs all major sections of the aircraft even though other competitive jets include this service every four years, resulting in higher downtime for each event.
The popular Embraer Phenom 300 has a higher range and extra cabin volume than the Cessna CJ4, which has the same passenger capacity. But when compared with the available payload with maximum fuel, the Cessna CJ4 is in a better position.
The engines of the Embraer Phenom 300 produce 3360 pounds of thrust, and its enhanced version has 3478 pounds of thrust. PW engines provide less noise, better fuel economy, and fewer emissions than their competitors.
The Embraer Phenom 300 flight deck comprises a traditional control yoke instead of the side stick. The unique Prodigy Touch Flight Deck system has had a new update for the older 300 version recently and includes multiple safety feature updates too. The overall flight deck has given pilots a smooth, fun flying experience.
