Mammoth Freighters has delivered its second converted Boeing 777-200LRMF freighter to the lessor Jetran, and the aircraft is now flying for DHL Air UK. The conversion company, based in Fort Worth, Texas, announced the handover in a LinkedIn post on 2 November 2026. Air Cargo News reported it on 3 November. The aircraft carries the UK registration G-DHME.
Mammoth says both of Jetran's 777-200LRMF freighters have started revenue service with DHL Air UK. The first one, MSN 32222, was handed over on 21 August 2026, a few weeks after its public debut at the Farnborough International Airshow in July.
What the order looks like
- Jetran, a lessor based in Texas, has ordered more than two dozen Mammoth 777-200LRMF conversions.
- 13 of those aircraft will fly in the DHL network. DHL planned for four of them to enter service in 2026.
- Qatar Airways Cargo was the launch customer for the type and has an agreement with Jetran for five aircraft.
- The FAA approved the 777-200LRMF conversion in April 2026 with a supplemental type certificate.
The conversion takes a used Boeing 777-200LR passenger jet and fits a large main deck cargo door and new cargo handling systems. The airframe and engines stay. Mammoth says the door is the widest cargo door in commercial operation. Its conversion lines are at Aspire MRO in Fort Worth, STS Aviation Services in Manchester, England, and STAECO in Qingdao, China. The report does not say where the second aircraft was converted.
Why it matters
Converted freighters are one of the main ways airlines and lessors add long-haul cargo capacity without waiting years for new-build aircraft. Boeing's own forecast expects the world freighter fleet to pass 4,000 aircraft by 2045, and conversions are a large part of that growth. The 777-200LR is a long-range airframe, so the converted version suits express networks like DHL's that link continents overnight.
Mammoth was founded in December 2020 and is backed by funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group. It holds a Boeing licence for the 777 and is also preparing a 777-300ERMF conversion.
