West Aviation Club

Royal West Aviation Club is a flying club and flight school based at Koksijde Air Base in Belgium. The club operates from airfield EBFN and serves people who want to learn to fly as well as current members. The organization has connections to the Koksijde area that reach back to the early history of the airfield in 1914 and 1915. The club welcomes new members who wish to join the local aviation community.

The club offers several training programs for people who dream of becoming pilots. Students can pursue a private pilot license or an ultralight pilot qualification. The club also runs theory lessons for pilots, with new courses beginning on 19 September 2026. People who are curious about flying can book an introduction flight to try flying before they start training.

The club fleet includes a Robin DR400/120. This aircraft has four seats and a useful load of 317 kilograms. It is powered by a Lycoming engine rated at 120 horsepower. The aircraft cruises at 103 knots. The club also operates aircraft OO-ODK, which was added to the fleet in a ceremony in October 2022.

The airfield has set opening hours for visitors and members. On weekends and public holidays the field is open from nine in the morning until sunset. On weekdays during summer time it opens at half past five in the evening until sunset. Members are allowed to fly on weekdays during the operating hours of Koksijde Tower. These rules help the club manage shared use of the runway.

Each year the club holds work days. During these events members and supporters perform maintenance tasks that keep runway 02 and runway 20 in active use. The club also publishes safety promotion articles and flight reports on its website. These publications share knowledge and improve awareness among pilots about safe flying practices throughout the year.

The club maintains a downloads page and a membership page on its website. It does not maintain social media accounts. The registered office is in Koksijde. The club continues to serve the region by offering training and community events for people interested in general aviation.
