Vietnam Aviation Engineering Company (VAECO)

Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company, known as VAECO, is a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines. It is headquartered at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, with branches in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. VAECO was formed in 2006 from the airline's earlier maintenance centers and came into operation under Vietnamese approval standards on 1 January 2009. It maintains the Vietnam Airlines fleet and has more than 80 customers worldwide.

Maintenance services

• Base maintenance in six hangars at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports, for narrow-body and wide-body aircraft
• Line maintenance at airports throughout Vietnam
• Aircraft on ground support available around the clock
• Supply of spare parts, components and tooling, with materials for sale and tooling for loan
• Calibration and testing laboratories under ISO/IEC 17025
• Training for aviation personnel

Cabin work

VAECO has performed cabin reconfigurations and retrofit programs on Airbus wide-body and narrow-body Vietnam Airlines aircraft since it began heavy maintenance.

A319, A320 and A321 (CEO and NEO), A330, A350, Boeing 737, 757/767F, 777 and 787, ATR 42 and ATR 72, and MD11.

Approvals and history

• AMO approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in operation from 2009
• FAA repair station certificate awarded in 2011
• EASA Part 145 approval awarded in 2017
• Further approvals listed from more than 20 authorities, including Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and the UAE
