VDC Electronics, Inc. makes the BatteryMINDer range of battery charger-maintainer-desulfators. Founded in 1993, it is a privately held company headquartered at 155 W. Carver Street, Suite 2, Huntington, New York. The company specialises in battery management products designed to extend the life of lead-acid batteries through its own desulfation circuitry, and describes itself as a 100 percent American owned company whose founders have more than forty years of combined battery charging design and manufacturing experience. Products are built to ISO 9001 standards, and the site says the historical failure rate is below half of one percent.

Aircraft products

The aviation range is matched to the battery brands fitted to general aviation aircraft:

• 12 volt 8 amp and 24 volt 4 amp charger-maintainer-desulfators (CEC2 series) in versions for Concorde, Gill and Hawker-Odyssey aviation batteries
• Model 28252-AA, a 28 volt, 25 amp ground support power supply, fast charger and maintainer
• BM-AIK2A airframe interface kit: a quick-connect harness with aviation grade components that adapts the charger's SAE output to an Anderson SB50 plug with an in-line fuse, six feet of colour-coded MIL-spec wiring and silicone fibreglass sleeving. The aviation models are designed only for sealed AGM or flooded lead-acid batteries, not nickel cadmium or other chemistries. The site carries safety warnings: the interface harness is for maintenance charging only, not ground power, and a flooded battery should not be charged in a confined compartment because of hydrogen gas build-up.
