Texas State Aviation

Texas State Aviation is a flight school at San Marcos Municipal Airport in Central Texas, about 20 minutes from Austin and 30 minutes from San Antonio. It has served the area for over 20 years and is open 7 days a week, 9 am to 6 pm, with after-hours procedures for rentals.

The airport

San Marcos Municipal Airport has three lighted runways, an operating control tower (Class D airspace) and ILS, VOR DME, NDB and GPS approaches. The school says the airport is not crowded, so students spend less time on the ground and more in the air. The school has hangar space for its own and privately owned aircraft, a classroom with free computer access for weather briefings, and Jeppesen, King, ASA and Gleim study materials.
