Setanta Space
Modular onboard computers, Space Tiles and AI software for spacecraft
About Setanta Space
Setanta Space Systems Limited is a Dublin company building a spacecraft computing platform that combines modular onboard hardware and software in one architecture. Based at NovaUCD in the Belfield Innovation Park at University College Dublin, it is a participant in the ESA Business Incubation Centre Ireland, and its team's background spans FPGA systems, satellite software and ESA mission work. The platform is offered as hardware plus software as a service and is positioned as the infrastructure layer for autonomous spacecraft, with compute decisions made on board before ground contact.
Platform
- DANU, a modular onboard computer platform for small satellites, hosted payloads and autonomous space systems, built around Microchip SAMV71-family ARM Cortex-M7 processing with integrated FPGA fabric for real-time processing, I/O bridging and reconfigurable logic; DANU RT and a SAMRH71-based DANU RH configuration target advanced payload handling, onboard autonomy and AI pre-processing or inference, and the site states that DANU flight heritage is not claimed
- Carrier modular onboard computers that bring processing, power and mission I/O onto one board as a foundation for payload control and data handling, with a higher-performance onboard computer in development
- Space Tiles that add mission-specific FPGA, processing or memory capability through a common interface, including an AMD Spartan-7 tile, a Lattice Certus-NX tile matched to the Galaxia development board, an in-development Microchip PolarFire FPGA module and a radiation-tolerant mass-memory tile
- Vulcan, deployment software that brings AI models and modular hardware into one visual workflow from application design to deployment preparation, plus an in-development sandbox for benchmarking edge AI across CPUs and accelerators
Company
Setanta Space says the modular approach reduces recurring engineering by letting customers choose compute around the payload, connect the software workflow and evaluate the complete system against mission requirements. Its website lists partners and programmes including Telespazio, D-Orbit, NovaUCD, Enterprise Ireland and NVIDIA Inception, and offers datasheets, a technical brief and a product brochure. The company is registered in Ireland under company number 793085.
