About Seaplane Scenics

Seaplane Scenics is a scenic flight operator in Seattle and Renton, Washington. It offers seaplane and land plane scenic tours, charter flights and flight training. The owner and chief pilot is James Young.

Scenic tours fly over Lake Washington, Kirkland and Bellevue, downtown Seattle, Puget Sound, the Space Needle, sports stadiums, the Ballard Locks and Lake Union. The company says its pilots narrate each flight in person, and passengers wear noise cancelling headsets. Up to five passengers can fly on each aircraft.

A land plane tour departs from Boeing Field and offers the same scenic route without water. The company says the tours run seven days a week.

Charter flights are custom and can go to the San Juan Islands, Puget Sound, Canada, Idaho or Montana. The site describes a whale watching trip to the San Juans, and extended tours where the guest chooses the route.

Flight training uses a Cessna 185 and a Cessna 172. Training runs from introductory to advanced levels, and students can work toward a seaplane rating or pilot training. The training center is in Renton.

Gift certificates are offered, but the site says the gift certificate system is being upgraded, so buyers should call to purchase one. Contact is by telephone at (206) 499-2135 or through a form on the site. The site lists a Renton training center at 295 East Perimeter Road and a land plane location at 8555 Perimeter Road South in Seattle.
