Scanlon Aviation, LLC is a flight school and maintenance shop at Marin County Airport, Gnoss Field (KDVO), in Novato, California. Patrick Scanlon founded the company in 2006. It is a Platinum Cirrus Training Center and an Authorized Cirrus Service Center, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

About the company

Patrick Scanlon began instructing at Gnoss Field in 2002 after a career in construction management. He trained at the Cirrus factory in Duluth in 2005 and is a Platinum CSIP. In 2007 he obtained an Air Carrier Certificate and began charter flights in a new Cirrus SR22. A new SR20 was added that year, and the company soon became a Cirrus Training Center.

Flight training

Training is done in a Cirrus SR20 G7 fleet and a Cirrus-configured Noble AATD simulator. Courses include:

Private pilot and instrument rating
Transition training into Cirrus aircraft
Flight reviews and instrument proficiency checks
Ferry and professional pilot services

Pilots who complete a transition course can rent the same Cirrus model.

Services

The service center maintains SR-series aircraft for the Scanlon fleet and for owners around the San Francisco Bay Area. Work includes annual, 100-hour and progressive inspections, pre-purchase evaluations and ferry permit inspections. Routine service covers oil changes, tires and brakes, TKS fluid, high pressure oxygen and nitrogen, and air conditioning. The shop handles Cirrus warranty and CMX program work on airframe, engine and Garmin avionics, and can pick up and drop off aircraft in most cases.
