About RTAG - The Veteran to Aviation Charity
RTAG is a veteran-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps all veterans, regardless of their experience, begin careers in aviation and aerospace after military service. It started as a campaign to address the national pilot shortage, especially for rotary wing aviators, and has since expanded to connect veterans with a range of aviation and aerospace jobs beyond just flying roles.
The organization serves veterans across the United States and works with aviation and aerospace industry partners who recognize the skills veterans bring. These partners hire veterans in many positions including pilots, maintainers, technicians, and dispatchers.
RTAG offers scholarships to support veterans transitioning into aviation careers, providing substantial financial aid. For example, at its annual convention, RTAG distributed scholarship awards totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. All online donations go directly to veterans through these scholarships, ensuring funds support their education and career development.
RTAG also hosts annual national conventions, which offer education and mentorship sessions led by industry experts. These sessions cover topics such as financial planning, resume preparation, VA benefits, airline recruiting, and support for veterans’ spouses. The conventions are held in major cities like Orlando, Florida, and have included prior events in Fort Worth, Texas.
The organization actively consults with aviation companies on hiring and training veterans. It develops hiring programs and training solutions, some of which provide tax benefits to participating partners. RTAG’s network includes thousands of members and many corporate sponsors who help advance its mission.
RTAG also shares articles and resources, including topics relevant to military aviators and reservists, to support veteran readiness and career growth. The charity creates pathways for veterans transitioning from military service to civilian aviation and aerospace roles.
