RFA

Rocket Factory Augsburg AG, known as RFA, is a German rocket maker. Its address is Berliner Allee 65 in Augsburg, Germany. The company builds the RFA ONE rocket and the Redshift orbital stage. The site describes launch services that place a customer's payload in its chosen orbit, from low Earth orbit to geostationary transfer orbit and beyond.

The site says the RFA ONE rocket uses the Helix staged combustion engine. The company says it is the only company in the European Union with a staged combustion engine. It also says it plans serial production of its rockets, in the same way car makers build cars.

The site gives test history. In 2022, the company completed a 74 second hot fire test of the Helix engine in flight configuration. In June 2023, it completed a full upper stage test with a staged combustion Helix engine, lasting 280 seconds. In May 2024, it began a hot fire campaign for its first stage at SaxaVord Spaceport, firing four Helix engines.

The company was established in 2018 as a corporate spinoff from OHB, through MT Aerospace Holding. It became a public limited company in 2019, with Stefan Brieschenk and Joern Spurmann as board members and co founders. The site says the team has members from more than 45 nationalities.

The company says it has a test site in Sweden, which it opened in 2020. The site says the company qualified its main engine in 2021 after an 8 second hot fire test. The site says the company was pre selected as one of five winners of ESA's European Launcher Challenge in 2025.

Visitors can contact the company by email for general, sales, press or investor enquiries, or by phone at +49 821 999576 20. The site has forms for launch enquiries, a payload user guide request and a press kit request. It also lists careers, news, a blog and a store.
