RCF Technologies
RCF Technologies makes high temperature seals, gaskets, ducting and couplings from its Rishon material for aircraft and other industries.
About RCF Technologies
RCF Technologies designs and makes parts for high temperature uses. The company was founded in 1975. It is woman owned and HUBZone certified. It serves aerospace, automotive, marine, defense and industrial customers. All of its products are designed and made in the USA.
The company started as RCF Seals and Couplings. Jack M. Kramer founded it to sell seals, couplings, ducting and gaskets to commercial aviation. He knew of a sealing problem on the Boeing 747 and designed a fix. The fix used a new silicone and fiberglass composite and a patented seal design. By 1980, RCF seals were on most major air carriers. In 1997, the name changed to RCF Technologies to reflect its wider range of parts.
The key material is called Rishon. RCF says it has passed many fire tests at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. It also states that the material can work for up to 6000 hours at 850 degrees Fahrenheit. It stays flexible at low temperatures. It has been tested in fuels, hydraulic fluids, acids and biofuels. It also absorbs noise and vibration, and it bonds to metal, glass and carbon fiber.
Rishon is not electrically conductive, but RCF can make parts conductive with very little added weight. It can serve as an insulation barrier against heat and flame in thin layers. The company says it can keep a backside temperature under 280 degrees Fahrenheit with insulation under 0.080 inch thick.
The product list is broad. It includes seals in radial, bulb, C, P, D and omega shapes, for static and dynamic uses. It also includes gaskets, flexible ducting and metal couplings. The ducting uses a convoluted or a proprietary Z-volute design that is easier to install. Other items are reusable high temperature bladders and vacuum bags, clamps, isolation mounts and grommets.
RCF works in the niche of high temperature air systems. Examples named on the site are bleed air, the auxiliary power unit and anti-icing. It says it partners with engineers to build lightweight and fireproof answers. It designs each application for its own needs.
The website has datasheets that visitors can request by form. It also has a contact route for design help. The company states that it brings 125 years of combined design and engineering experience.
