About PilotEdge

PilotEdge provides professional air traffic control for flight simulators. Its live controllers work about 15 hours a day, with service from 8am to 11pm Pacific, seven days a week, except on holidays. Pilots can hear other pilots on the radio, see other aircraft on a live map and call for taxi and clearance as they would at a real airport. The company offers a free trial, and pricing starts at $19.95 a month.

Coverage is sold in two options. The ZLA option covers the Los Angeles air route traffic control area. It takes in half of California, much of Nevada and parts of Arizona and Utah. The Western US option covers the Seattle, Oakland, Salt Lake City, Denver and Albuquerque centers, with all the Bravo and Charlie airports and selected Delta airports. Together the two options cover about half of the contiguous United States.

PilotEdge runs a voluntary training program. Pilots take practical tests in the airplane, and a controller decides whether each test is passed. The program has CAT ratings and I ratings, and pilots are limited to two rating attempts a day. The Western US option does not include these rating programs.

Supplemental programs include free workshops on VFR and IFR communication. Other workshops cover real world IFR, real world VFR and a real world coast to coast flight. Pilot tools include a flight plan filing tool, ATIS, live audio, audio recordings and a flight tracker. The network runs 24 hours a day, and about 2,850 public use airports lie inside the coverage area.

The community section includes a Discord live chat, a forum, merchandise, scenarios and challenges, and SkyHigh Charters scenarios. The company also runs focus field events at selected airports, with suggested pattern times published.

The service suits student and home pilots, flight instructors, commercial or educational facilities, and simulation enthusiasts. Email is the main way to reach the company, with separate addresses for billing, support, sales and general inquiries.
