About Peninsula Aero Club

Peninsula Aero Club is a flight training school and aviation club based at Mornington Peninsula Airport in Tyabb, Victoria. The club also operates training facilities at Barwon Heads on the Bellarine Peninsula and at Warrnambool Regional Airport. It offers flight training at all levels from recreational aviation through to professional pilot qualifications.

Students can pursue a RAAus Recreational Pilot Certificate, Recreational Pilot Licence, Private Pilot Licence, and Commercial Pilot Licence. The club also offers the Instrument Rating, Private Instrument Rating, Night VFR Rating, Multi Engine Class Rating, and Instructor Rating. Endorsements include aerobatics, tailwheel operations, and formation flying. These programs cater to both hobby pilots and those seeking aviation careers.

Trial instructional flights are offered for people who want to experience flying before committing to a full training course. The club trains pilots under both RAAus and CASA frameworks. A CASA approved ELITE flight simulator is available for instrument training and procedure practice. The simulator is housed in a dedicated, air conditioned, and quiet room with modern computer hardware and high fidelity displays.

The club operates a diverse fleet of training and hire aircraft. Single engine types include the Foxbat A22LS, Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Beechcraft Sierra, and American Champion Decathlon. The Cessna 172 offers four seats and IFR capability, while the Sierra is used for constant speed propeller and retractable undercarriage training. The Decathlon supports tailwheel and aerobatics instruction.

Multi engine and instrument training is conducted in the Beechcraft Travel Air and Partenavia P68B. The Travel Air provides a platform for multi engine IFR training, retractable undercarriage, and manual propeller pitch control endorsement work. The Partenavia P68B offers multi engine and instrument rating training with a six seat cabin. Members can hire aircraft at competitive members rates.

The Tyabb office is open seven days per week during daytime hours. The Barwon Heads and Warrnambool offices operate by appointment only. The club serves pilots and students across the Melbourne metropolitan area, Mornington Peninsula, Bellarine Peninsula, and south west Victoria. Aircraft are available for hire to members for both training and recreational flying.
