About P6 Aviation

P6 Aviation is a flight school at Essex County Airport (KCDW), 27 Wright Way, Fairfield, New Jersey, about 25 miles from New York City, with a second base at Morristown Municipal Airport (KMMU). It trains in Cirrus aircraft from the first discovery flight to commercial and instructor certificates, gives Cirrus transition training, rents its fleet to qualified pilots and provides simulator training, aircraft management and accelerated courses. Cirrus Aircraft's locator (October 2026) lists its instructors as Platinum CSIPs and a training center contact at Essex County Airport. The founding partner is Peter Widry, a former American Eagle EMB145 captain who has instructed since 2004.

Fleet

P6 operates 16 Cirrus SR-series aircraft, eight SR20s and eight SR22/SR22Ts, including 2024 to 2026 G7 and G7+ aircraft with Garmin Perspective Touch+ avionics, plus a Diamond DA42 Twin Star for multi-engine training. A Noble G7 simulator, an FAA-approved AATD that can be configured as an SR20, SR22 or SR22T, is used for avionics and procedures work before flying.

Training

  • Private pilot certificate in Cirrus aircraft, 40 lessons across 11 modules; the site says most clients finish in three to six months
  • Instrument rating, flown in SR22 G6 or G7 aircraft, with recurrent training afterwards
  • Commercial, CFI/CFII and multi-engine training
  • Accelerated courses with a dedicated aircraft and instructor, locally or on the road
  • Partner-in-Command: a ground, simulator and flight course for spouses and passengers of Cirrus pilots
  • Discovery flights in a 2024 Cirrus SR20 G7

Cirrus

The Cirrus transition course follows the Cirrus Aircraft syllabus tracked in the Cirrus Approach portal, in two phases: a VFR transition (20-plus hours of online modules, then typically 8 to 15 flight hours) and an IFR transition for instrument-rated pilots (a further 8 to 15 hours). Graduates can rent the SR20 or SR22 G7+ fleet after checkout, with recurrent Cirrus training every six months. P6 also gives SR20-to-SR22 upgrade training, G6-to-G7 differences, avionics differences, refresher training, multi-day Cirrus Embark sessions for pilots who buy a pre-owned Cirrus, and transition training in a customer's own aircraft. The 14-instructor team includes Platinum CSIPs and Gold Seal, CFII and MEI holders. Rates published on the transition page in October 2026: SR20 G7 US$395 per hour, SR22/SR22T G7 US$495, instruction US$150 to US$185 depending on instructor level, Noble G7 simulator US$175, instruction in a customer-owned aircraft US$165, consumables extra; rates change, confirm with the company.
