Owens Flight Training

Owens Flight Training is a flight school located in Lafayette, Louisiana. The company also operates a location in Opelousas, Louisiana. It provides training for individuals who want to become pilots. The school focuses on helping students move from beginner lessons to earning their pilot certificates.

The school offers several flight training programs. Students can enroll in the standard flight training program or choose the accelerated program to progress faster. Owens Flight Training serves as Lafayette's Cirrus training center. It provides Cirrus aircraft training for students who want to fly these planes.

Ground school instruction is available in two formats. Students can attend classroom sessions or complete their coursework through online instruction. This flexibility allows students to balance training with other responsibilities. The school uses FAA certified simulators to give students additional practice time before they fly real aircraft.

The training fleet includes Cessna and Cirrus aircraft. These planes are shown on the school website and support various stages of instruction. The school also maintains FAA certified simulators for safe, controlled practice. Students begin with basic flight lessons and advance to more complex skills as they improve.

People who are unsure about becoming a pilot can schedule a discovery flight. This introductory flight lets them experience aviation before committing to a full program. The training process moves from ground school to flight instruction. According to the website, students can complete their training and be ready for a check ride within weeks.

Owens Flight Training provides financing options to help students pay for their education. The website includes a page for flight crew members and features the Flight Tales podcast. These resources offer information about the school and general aviation topics. The contact page lists Lafayette and Opelousas as the two available training locations.

After students pass their check ride, they receive the certification needed to fly where they want. The school guides each student through the steps required to reach this goal. From the first discovery flight to final certification, Owens Flight Training supports pilots in the Lafayette and Opelousas areas.
