MTC offers help in several areas. These include product innovation and development, process improvement, digital transformation, growth and scaling, supply chain change, sustainable manufacturing and skills training. Its technical work covers materials engineering, simulation and modelling, and manufacturing systems.

The company works with small firms, start-ups and entrepreneurs. It also works with large and multi-national organisations, universities and collaborative members. Market sectors named on the site include defence, hydrogen, nuclear power, renewables, construction, aerospace, agritech and automotive.

MTC has an additive manufacturing team and a set of machines that the site invites visitors to explore. Other technology areas are artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, laser processing, materials technology, metrology and NDT, digital manufacturing and cyber security. The site says the Digital Proving Ground helps companies check manufacturing investments before they commit.

The site gives impact figures. It says MTC has delivered more than 9,000 projects, employs more than 600 multi-disciplinary engineers, has over 90 collaborative members and has trained more than 1,200 apprentices.

The site says the company is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK, and has worked in manufacturing since 2010. Recent news includes a new training centre on Tyneside for apprentices and a spring cohort for an automation and robotics training programme.
