Moray Flying Club

Moray Flying Club is a not-for-profit military flying club at Kinloss in Moray, Scotland. It gives flight training and aircraft hire to service personnel and a limited number of civilian members. The club can operate 7 days a week. Civilian membership is currently closed to new applicants.

Courses

• UK Part-FCL Private Pilot's Licence (PPL)
• National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL): from October 2025 the only sub-ICAO licence in the UK, for single-engine piston aircraft up to 2,000 kg, with night and IMC ratings available
• Glider pilot to NPPL conversion for holders of a BGA licence with Bronze C, with reduced training (minimum 10 hours)
• Night rating: 5 hours flying and 3 hours ground school, no test
• Qualified Military Pilot to UK Part-FCL licence, using the CAP 2254 exemptions

Fleet

• Pipistrel single-engine two-seat aircraft, including the electric Velis Electro G-OVEL and the Virus SW 121
• Socata TB9, a four-seat aircraft for training or hire by licence holders

Funding

The club is an Approved Learning Provider (No 1155) under the Ministry of Defence Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme, so serving and retired personnel can use ELC funds for a PPL or NPPL course or extra ratings. The RAF Sports Association offers flying scholarships each summer, from an introductory flight up to 15 hours of training to solo standard.
