Millennium Space Systems

Millennium Space Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is an end-to-end small satellite prime contractor delivering affordable, high-performance small satellite systems across low, medium and geosynchronous Earth orbits. Operating as a non-fully integrated subsidiary, it designs and builds systems on timelines it describes as unheard of in the traditional space industry, and states 100 percent mission success with 16 satellites launched. The company builds its satellites in manufacturing facilities in El Segundo, California, with offices at 14425 Penrose Place and at 5555 Tech Center Drive, and is led by chief executive Jason Kim, whose previous roles include business development executive at Raytheon Intelligence and Space.

Capabilities

Millennium designs to any requirement in LEO, MEO and GEO, offering lifetimes from one to three years or three to seven years with selective-redundancy approaches, radiation-rated designs for MEO and GEO, and green, monopropellant, bipropellant and electric propulsion options on buses from half-ESPA class up to launch vehicle limits. It is vertically integrated, building about 80 percent of satellite components in house, including attitude sensors and actuators, avionics, electrical systems, integrated propulsion and mechanisms, and runs prototyping, qualification and high-rate production for classified and unclassified programmes. Satellite integration and test uses Millennium and Boeing environmental test labs including thermal vacuum chambers, and in-house ground software and a ground station provide mission tasking, command and control and data delivery through mission operations and training.
