About Lanseria International Airport

Lanseria International Airport is an airport near Johannesburg in Gauteng, South Africa. It serves commercial airlines, charter operators, private flyers and pilots, and it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The airport has a newly expanded terminal building for domestic, regional and international departures and arrivals. Commercial airlines currently fly from Lanseria to Durban and Cape Town. The airport has a new runway, which allows larger aircraft to land. Each airline sets its own travel rules, so passengers check with the airline for bookings, changes and luggage limits.

Lanseria is a major base for charter flights in South Africa. It is home to several charter companies that offer private jets for many kinds of travel. The airport describes privacy, comfort and efficiency as the reasons travellers choose it for charter and VIP flights.

For pilots and aviation firms, the airport lists a range of services. These include fixed base operations, freight handlers, air traffic control, fuel handling, and aircraft sales and maintenance.

For passengers, the airport has restaurants, shops, lounges and an aeroplane viewing deck. It offers short and long term parking, car hire, taxis and transfers, and a bus terminal. It has mobility access for travellers who need help, and it provides information on baggage, security and international travel.

Lanseria has plans to grow. It has announced a project to turn the airport area into one of the first smart cities in Gauteng, with a business gateway and a three-tower precinct. In February 2025, it reached the Mapping level of Airport Carbon Accreditation. It also reported changes in its shareholding to support capital projects.
