Independent Cirrus SR20/SR22 training and owner support in Kentucky

About KYCSIP

KYCSIP is an independent Cirrus training and owner support business in Kentucky, run by flight instructor Dennis Mahan and trading as ADM Aviation, LLC. It gives Cirrus-specific training to owners, pilots and flight instructors, from VFR transition for pilots new to Cirrus to recurrent, avionics and airframe differences courses, and helps owners with scheduling, maintenance, pilot proficiency and aircraft-on-ground support. Cirrus Aircraft's locator (October 2026) lists Dennis Mahan at Louisville (KLOU) as a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot.

Training

  • Cirrus Transition: VFR initial training for the pilot new to Cirrus
  • Cirrus Advanced Transition: VFR and IFR initial training for the pilot new to Cirrus
  • Recurrent training: annual VFR and IFR skill refreshers
  • Avionics differences: VFR or IFR training for pilots moving between six-pack, Avidyne, Perspective, Perspective+ and Perspective Touch+ panels
  • Airframe and powerplant differences: add-on course for pilots moving to a new SR20, SR22, SR22TN or SR22T
  • Advanced training: spin, upset prevention and recovery, and basic aerobatics

The site says training within the Cirrus Approach system and the Cirrus Embark programme is its specialty. Embark is the manufacturer's standardized differences and transition training for licensed pilots who buy a pre-owned Cirrus; KYCSIP tailors the one-on-one sessions and points buyers to Cirrus's Embark requirements. Published rates (about page, October 2026): full day of flight training US$1,200, half day US$600; rates change, confirm with the company.

Owner support

Beyond instruction, KYCSIP helps owners with the practical side of ownership: flexible scheduling, maintenance coordination, aircraft-on-ground support and pilot services. The site's view is that it is not only about learning to fly, but about learning how to use an airplane to its greatest benefit. It also keeps a files section with training documents for Cirrus pilots.

Instructor

Dennis Mahan has been a flight instructor since 2012 and, according to the site, a COPA Cirrus Pilot Proficiency Program (CPPP) instructor since 2017. He has owned several aircraft himself, which the site says shapes how he approaches owner support.
