Kakadu Air

Kakadu Air is a locally owned Northern Territory operator of scenic flights and air charter. It trades under the name of Kakadu Air Services Pty Ltd. The company flies over Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land. It was founded in the 1980s. Four Northern Territory residents bought the business after the founders retired in July 2018.

Kakadu Air runs offices in Darwin, at Jabiru Airport and at Cooinda Lodge. Its flights leave from Jabiru, Cooinda and Darwin. The company operates all year round. The wet season runs from November to April, and the dry season runs from May to October. The website says there is a flight for every adventurer and budget. Office hours run from 7:00 to 17:00.

Fixed wing scenic flights run for 30 or 60 minutes from Jabiru and from Cooinda. Sunset Spectacular flights leave from Jabiru. Helicopter scenic flights also leave from Jabiru, including a one hour wet season falls flight. The company says its daytime scenic flights continue through the season.

Day tours run from Darwin. The Kakadu in a Day tour includes a 90 minute scenic flight, a Yellow Water boat cruise and a visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre. The Kakadu Cultural Tour visits Ubirr rock art, Marrawuddi Art Gallery and Cahills Crossing. It also includes the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise, which runs in the dry season only. The Arnhem Land Day Tour runs with a partner operator.

Kakadu Air offers aircraft charter from its air-conditioned terminals at Jabiru and Darwin. A range of aircraft is available. Charter quotes are arranged on request. The company also has a dedicated freight hangar with cold room services.
