About Jump Aero

Jump Aero is building the JA1 Pulse, an electric vertical take off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for first responders. The company's mission is to enable first responders to fly to the scene of an emergency as fast as possible. It says the aircraft will cut rural emergency response time in half.

The JA1 Pulse is a one person biplane tail-sitter. It carries a 150 kg (330 lb) payload, which covers one person and equipment. Its dash speed is 250 knots, and it can deploy in under 60 seconds. It can reach any location within 50 km in less than 10 minutes.

The aircraft has eight independent, cross-linkable 11 kWh batteries and a single HVDC fast charging port. It has full envelope protection, a ballistic airframe parachute and no catastrophic single point failures. It can land on 10 degree slopes and can be moved on a flatbed trailer without disassembly.

For prehospital emergency care, the concept sends a traditional ambulance and the aircraft to the scene at the same time. The website says that in suburban areas the aircraft would arrive in about half the time of an ambulance, and in rural areas it could arrive 20 to 30 minutes before one. The aircraft carries a heart monitor, an automated CPR machine and oxygen.

Jump Aero also targets fire and rescue, where its aircraft can reach remote and rural terrain and give commanders airborne situational awareness. For law enforcement, it offers a faster way to get eyes on a scene. For defense, the website lists special operations and security quick reaction forces, emergency extraction, reconnaissance, resupply and emergency medical support.

Carl Dietrich founded Terrafugia in 2006 and left to found Jump Aero in 2019. He is joined by co-founders Jeff Myjak and Katerina Barilov. The company aims to save many lives each year through sustainable eVTOL operations. Its partners shown on the website include the U.S. Air Force, Falck Emergency Medical Services, Electro Ventures and the Vertical Flight Society.

The website includes a whitepaper, a concept of operations video and a careers page. Visitors can also contact the team about service in their area.
