Mayman Aerospace
Autonomous jet-powered VTOL aircraft developer based in Long Beach, California
About Mayman Aerospace
Mayman Aerospace, previously known as JetPack Aviation, develops autonomous, jet-powered vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The company is based in Long Beach, California. As JetPack Aviation it built turbine-powered jetpacks that appeared in films, commercials and Red Bull air races. Today it builds heavy-lift, high-speed VTOL aircraft for defense and dual-use missions where there is no runway or other infrastructure. Its work is funded by US government customers and private investors.
Aircraft and systems
- P100: autonomous jet-powered VTOL with a 100 lb payload, sprint speed above 400 knots and an operating ceiling of 20,000 ft
- C200: 300 lb payload cargo aircraft for contested areas, in development
- L500: 500 lb payload and 500 nm range, in development
- SKYFIELD: an operating system that lets one operator control many aircraft, in development
Technology
The aircraft use gimbaled turbines for thrust vectoring, which gives vertical launch and high-speed cruise in one airframe. They need a clear area of only 10 by 10 feet to launch. Propulsion, airframe, flight controls and autonomy are developed and tested in house.
Markets served
The company works with defense program offices, prime contractors and international partners on logistics, resupply and sensing missions.
