JA Flight Training

JA Flight Training is a flight school at Aurora Airport in Sugar Grove, Illinois. The school sits about 40 miles west of Chicago. It started in 2006 as JA Flight Services. It began as a small Part 61 flight school and Part 135 charter company. Today it is an FAA approved Part 141 flight school. The school has more than 25 employees and seven late model aircraft.

The school offers a career airline pilot program. The program takes students with no flight experience and trains them to become a co pilot. Students can earn a co pilot position with Southern Airways Express in as little as 12 months. No college degree is needed. The curriculum is designed for entry into Southern Airways Express. After two years with Southern Airways, pilots enter SkyWest Airlines with two years of work credit.

The school trains people for private pilot licenses, commercial pilot ratings, and flight instructor ratings. It also offers Cessna Caravan initial and recurrent training. Other courses include a multi engine accelerated course, a two week CFI accelerated course, and weekly ground schools. The average cost for a private pilot license is about $15,000. The average cost for a commercial license is about $30,000.

The fleet includes Garmin G1000 aircraft. The site states this is the newest fleet in the Chicago area. The fleet includes Cessna 172 aircraft with G1000 and G1000 NXI avionics. It also includes Cessna 172 models with standard gauges, a Beechcraft B55 Baron, and a Cessna Grand Caravan. The school also uses FAA approved simulators to help students train faster and save money.

Students can earn a college degree while they train. The school lists a Purdue Global bachelor degree pathway and a three year Liberty University program. The Liberty program provides all flight ratings and prepares students to become flight instructors. Both programs allow students to live at home while earning a degree online. The accelerated private pilot course can be completed in as little as three months.

The school owns Executive Express Aviation, a Part 135 charter business. The site lists hangar event rentals, a Cessna Skyhawk for sale, and a flight news page. The school serves students from cities including Aurora, Naperville, Wheaton, Elgin, and DeKalb. Students can also build hours by becoming a flight instructor.
