About FLARIS LAR 1

Flaris is a Polish company that builds a small personal jet called the LAR 01. It is based in Podgórzyn, Poland. The company says the jet is the only one in its class able to take off from small grass airstrips. The aim is a jet that is easy to fly and costs less to buy and run than other business aircraft.

The site gives some cost figures. With four people on board, fuel costs $0.14 per nautical mile per person. The operating cost is given as $450 per hour, which includes fuel, maintenance, replacement parts and the engine TAP BLUE programme. The site compares this with single engine personal jets, twin engine very light jets, single engine piston aircraft and twin engine aircraft. It lists the cost of one mile at $1.20 for the LAR 01.

The story on the site begins with Rafał Ładziński, a Polish engineer and entrepreneur. He had the idea of a compact and economical jet that could take off from any aeroclub. First designs and prototypes were made at Metal-Master, a company he founded with Sylwia Ładziński that works for the car industry. The text says it holds 22 patents. The project has been co funded by the European Union since 2009. Polish institutes, including WAT, ILOT, PW and ITWL, joined the work.

The company Flaris was set up in 2012 to build the LAR 01 in series and to promote and sell it. It plans to widen its range to other aircraft. The site offers a page for buying a LAR 01 and a link to piloting courses. A contact form and two phone numbers are shown. Flaris Sp. z o.o. is the producer listed on the contact page.
