Egan-Jones Ratings is an independent credit rating agency. It was founded in 1995. The company gives credit ratings and proxy advisory services to investors, asset managers and financial institutions around the world. Aviation is only one part of its work. Its site says it rates aircraft leases.

The company has three main business lines. Private credit ratings cover areas such as direct lending funds, aircraft leases, real estate and infrastructure debt. Proxy advisory services give voting guidance to asset managers, asset owners and registered investment advisers, with coverage in more than 40 countries. Subscription ratings cover corporate issuers, financial institutions and structured finance vehicles. A tool called the Ratings Change Anticipator helps clients expect rating moves.

Egan-Jones also rates private placements. The site says it rated more than 3,200 deals in 2025. Its ratings cover asset based financing, leases, project finance, funds and other types of debt. The company says its model is mainly paid for by subscribers, which it links to fewer conflicts of interest.

The company lists several regulatory approvals. The US Securities and Exchange Commission registered it as an NRSRO on 21 December 2007. It is a certified credit rating agency with ESMA in Europe and with the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners recognizes it as a credit rating provider.
