Dothan Regional Airport, run by the Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority in Dothan, Alabama, offers daily jet service to Atlanta.
About Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority
Dothan Regional Airport is owned and operated by the Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority, Inc. The airport is in Dothan, Alabama, at 800 Airport Dr. The site says it serves southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia and the Florida panhandle.
The airport offers daily nonstop jet service to Atlanta, provided through Delta Connection. Electronic kiosks help travelers check in and handle baggage. The terminal has an ATM, a restaurant called the Dinner Bell Cafe, seating, a business center, car rental agencies and a gift shop.
The airport has a 1,200 acre site, an 8,500 foot all weather main runway and a 5,000 foot secondary runway. The terminal building is 27,000 square feet. The site says the airport has full time police and fire presence and modern navigation facilities.
Other businesses at the airport include Commercial Jet, an MRO company, and FlightSafety International. Two fixed base operators, Aero-One and Flightline of Dothan, also work there. The site says about twenty businesses or agencies operate at the airport.
The site says the airport is self supporting. It earns revenue from rent, landing fees and other charges paid by its users. That money goes back into federally required projects, runway and taxiway resurfacing, safety equipment and security upgrades.
The history section says the airfield began as part of an Army Air Corps project in 1941. In 1946 the field was made available to the City of Dothan and Houston County. In 1993 the Airport Authority bought land next to the airfield to help attract new industry.
The site says the airport handles about 90,000 aircraft operations a year. It lists pages for general aviation, pilot information, airport tenants, business opportunities, careers and ADA compliance.
