Desert Flying Club

Desert Flying Club (DFC) is a non-profit flying club in the Las Vegas area of Nevada. Members rent club aircraft for less than retail rates, fly together and train with club instructors. The club has served pilots of all levels for over 10 years and is run by volunteers.

Membership

• Social: US$15 a month, club events, no rental privileges
• Pilot: US$45 a month, discounted aircraft rental, a vote on club matters, club instructors
• Student: US$75 a month, learn in club aircraft
• Family: US$60 a month, full rental privileges for up to 4 pilots in one family
• Insurance deductible plan: US$5 a month for pilots, US$7 for students, so members do not need their own renter's hull policy

The club says members pay 20 to 40% less than retail rental rates.

Each aircraft has its own checkout rules, such as a pre-solo written test, minimum hours and an annual checkout in type.

Flying and training

• Introductory flights and time building
• Monthly safety meetings that earn FAA WINGS credit
• Local airspace guides: Henderson Executive Airport, Jean Airport (0L7) and the Las Vegas Class B transition
• Members-only training events and social get-togethers
