Continental Aero Flying School

Continental Aero Flying School (CAFS) is a pilot training school based at Hangar 11 in the General Aviation Area of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), Cebu, Philippines. It has trained pilots at the airport since 1980 and is a CAAP-approved Air Training Organization, certificate ATO 84-11. Students fly in the controlled airspace of a working international airport from their first lessons.

Programs

• Cadet Pilot Program: an integrated route of PPL, CPL, instrument rating, multi-engine rating and ATPL theory, listed at 18 to 24 months and 236 flight hours. Entry is by aptitude screening, interview and medical review
• Indian Cadet Pilot Program (DGCA) for agency-sponsored cadets
• Modular training: Private Pilot (PPL), Commercial Pilot (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), Multi-Engine Rating (ME), ATPL theory and Flight Instructor rating
• Licence conversion for pilots holding an ICAO foreign licence, and flying for visiting pilots on their own licence

Discovery flight

The Discovery Flight is a 60 minute experience in a Cessna 172: a 15 minute briefing and about 45 minutes in the air, with the student handling the controls for part of the flight. The site lists the fee at 20,000 pesos, and the school confirms the fee is credited toward training if the student enrols.

Fleet and facilities

Training aircraft are the Cessna 172 and Cessna 152, plus a Beechcraft Baron 58 for the multi-engine rating. The school also uses an FNPT II simulator.

How to apply

Admissions has six steps: inquiry and consultation, an online application, assessment (aptitude test, ICAO English check and interview), acceptance and pre-documents, Student Pilot Licence issuance with CAAP, and orientation followed by the first flight. International students are supported with special study permit filing.
