About Coastal Aviation

Coastal Air is a trade name fully owned by Coastal Travels Limited. The airline is headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It was established in 1987. The company has more than three decades of experience in the regional air travel industry. It has grown into a provider of aviation services across Tanzania and East Africa.

The company offers scheduled flights, safari adventures, private flights, and aircraft maintenance. It works to provide aviation needs under one roof. As an Approved Maintenance Organization, the airline can perform third party maintenance services. This allows the company to handle both flight operations and technical support.

The fleet is made up of single engine aircraft. The airline operates Pilatus PC12 and Cessna C208B planes. It plans to introduce multi engine aircraft in the near future. The company is working to expand its fleet capacity over the coming years.

Coastal Air operates hubs in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Zanzibar. It flies to many destinations in Tanzania and nearby countries. These include Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi, Rubondo Island, Ruaha, Tarangire, Pemba Island, Tanga, Songo Songo, Serengeti, Selous, Mafia Island, Zanzibar, Lake Manyara, and Kigali. This network links tourist camps and international gateways.

The airline provides access to the Serengeti and the Selous and Ruaha regions. It offers daily flights to Mafia Island. These flights support travel to areas known for wildlife and marine experiences. The company connects remote camps with major cities and airports.

Safety is the highest priority for the organization. All commercial flights feature a Multi Crew Cooperation cockpit. The airline has retained the IATA Safety Standards Assessment certification over the years. These measures are part of its standard operating procedures.

Passengers are asked to use soft bags that are easier to load. The standard baggage size is 40 by 40 by 80 centimeters. Flight rules change based on booking class, season, and flight dates. The airline warns that flights may run late due to weather, floods, road conditions, or airstrip problems.
