About CityJet

CityJet is an Irish-registered airline that leases regional jets to other airlines. It was formed in 1993. It began by offering a direct link to the new London City Airport about 30 years ago. Since then it has grown into a pan-European operator.

Since 2018, CityJet has worked only as an ACMI provider. ACMI stands for aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance. CityJet supplies those four items. The customer airline decides where and when the aircraft fly. That customer also sells the tickets and pays costs such as fuel and airport charges. This lets the customer keep its own brand and passenger experience.

Today all CityJet flights run for Scandinavian Airlines, known as SAS, under a long-term wet lease. The fleet is made up of CRJ900 jets. Each one has 88 or 90 seats. Flying is centred in Copenhagen and Stockholm and supports the regional network of SAS. Passengers on these flights should contact SAS with questions or claims.

About 320 staff work in Copenhagen alone, in flying and ground roles. A maintenance centre at Hangar 3 at Copenhagen Airport does line maintenance on the fleet. The same site handles crew training and HR services.

Other functions are in different places. The Operations Control Centre, the airworthiness management organisation and corporate administration are at Dublin Airport. The crew planning centre is in Luton, England.

CityJet holds an Air Operator Certificate from the Irish Aviation Authority. It also has an operating licence from the Commission for Aviation Regulation in Ireland. The airline is IOSA certified. It completed its latest IATA Operational Safety Audit in June 2025, and the certificate runs to November 2027. It also holds UK third country operator approval. The company is a member of the Strategic Alliance of Regional Airlines.

CityJet says it keeps hiring across the business. It offers CRJ type rating opportunities to new flight crew. The website has a jobs section and a corporate page for customers who want to learn about its ACMI service.
