About Central Coast Jet Center

Central Coast Jet Center is a fixed base operation at Santa Maria Airport (SMX) in California. The center serves private and business flights on the central coast of California. The Kunkle family built the center in 2003.

The site says the center has more than 215,000 square feet of ramp space. It also has over 26,600 square feet of office and hangar space. It can host aircraft for a single night or for long term hangar rental.

The facilities include a first class executive terminal, a conference room, a pilot's lounge with satellite TV, and a briefing room for flight planning. The site says the center sits on the south side of the airport, with quick taxi routes.

The site lists services such as fuel, rental cars, limo and taxi service, hotel bookings, catering, hangar space, quick turns, ground power, air start, lavatory service, potable water and passenger stairs. The center is an Avfuel provider and sells contract fuel.

The site says the ILS runway 12 is 8,004 feet long and the ramp is stressed to 400,000 pounds. It also says there are no SFO or LAX area ATC delays. The site lists hours from 6 am to 9 pm, with 24 hour call outs on request.

The founder, James Kunkle, died in April 2022. Chris Kunkle is president. The center became fully family owned in early 2024. The site lists a phone line at (888) 934-2252 and a reservation form.
