Premier Health CareFlight Air and Mobile Services

CareFlight Air and Mobile Services is the critical care transport programme of Premier Health in Dayton, Ohio. It is a hospital programme tied to Miami Valley Hospital. It moves badly hurt or very sick patients by helicopter and by ground ambulance.

Services

The site says the programme started in 1983 and was the first air medical programme in the region. It serves more than 300 agencies in 17 counties. More than 100 people work on the team. The programme also runs four ground mobile intensive care units based at hospitals across the region.

Aircraft and bases

CareFlight operates three Leonardo AW169 helicopters. They are available every hour of every day. The aircraft carry two units of whole blood and can take two patients at once. Each has two flight clinicians, either two flight nurses or a flight nurse and a flight paramedic. The helicopters fly under instrument flight rules. HeliService USA maintains and operates the aircraft, and it provides the pilots.
