About Canterbury Aero Club

Canterbury Aero Club is a flying club and flight training school in Christchurch, New Zealand. Its head office is at Harewood Aviation Park, 25 Aviation Drive, Christchurch International Airport. The site says the club has trained pilots for over 90 years.

The club has three bases. These are the Christchurch base, West Melton Aerodrome and the Rangiora satellite airfield. The club's mission, as the site states it, is to promote, foster and encourage safe and skilful flying and the practice, study and research of aviation.

The club offers a wide variety of training. It starts with introductory flights and goes on to commercial licences. The site lists theory courses, the requirements to gain a private pilot licence, mountain and commercial training, and renewals and international training. Young Eagles and scholarships are also listed.

The club has a simulator centre run by the International Aviation Academy of New Zealand. The site says the centre has a brand new flight simulator based on an A320. The academy also offers an eLearning course that industry professionals and subject matter experts designed.

The club has a busy calendar. Club days are held each month at West Melton or Rangiora. These are dual flights with an instructor, so anyone can try flying as a pilot or passenger. Fly aways take members to destinations, including an annual Mount Cook trip. The club also competes in Flying NZ regional and national competitions.

The phone number is 03 359 2121, or +64 3 359 2121 from outside New Zealand. The site has a weekly email newsletter called CAC Weekly, a newsletter named CAC Skyward, and pages on Facebook and Instagram.
