About Brown Flying School

Brown Flying School has remained open for more than 60 years. The school offers one on one flight training to people who want to learn to fly. Students work toward earning a private pilot license at the school. The school also helps pilots earn an instrument rating. Each student progresses through training at his or her own pace. This approach allows learners to master skills before moving forward.

New students can start with an introductory flight in one of the schools Cessna 172 Skyhawks. An instructor leads each student through a pre flight discussion before the aircraft leaves the ground. During the flight, the student gets a feel for piloting the aircraft through hands on discovery. After landing, the instructor provides a post flight debriefing. This abbreviated lesson gives beginners a clear idea of what flight training involves.

Brown Flying School offers city rides for people who want to see the area from above. These scenic flights travel over Terre Haute. They also pass over Bridgeton. Riders can see West Terre Haute during the flight as well. Interested customers can schedule a ride or an introductory flight with the school.

The school runs a maintenance and repair shop at its facility. Mechanics perform annual inspections on aircraft. They also complete 100 hour inspections as required. The shop handles experimental condition inspections for eligible aircraft. Oil changes are available at the facility. The staff performs general maintenance and repair tasks. They specialize in fabric covering and restoration projects. Rotax engine servicing is also part of their capabilities. Aircraft owners can request current rates and estimates from the office.

The facility provides full fuel service to pilots seven days a week. Service hours run from sunup to sundown. The school currently sells 100LL aviation fuel. Pilots can park on the ramp for a single day with no ramp fee. Aircraft that stay longer go into a hangar for shelter. The daily hangar rate protects planes from weather. This service gives travelers a safe place to keep their aircraft.

Aircraft owners can rent one of the schools T hangars. The school does not require a contract for hangar rental. Owners may rent for a few months or for several years. This flexible arrangement suits both short term and long term storage needs.
