BP Aero

BP Aero is an aircraft engine service company based in Irving, Texas. It offers engine teardown, engine part overhaul, engine hospital shop repairs and field service. Its customers include airlines, engine overhaul shops, leasing companies and parts traders.

The company was founded in 2008 by Dennis and Michael Walsh, a father and son. They saw too little capacity for engine dismantling and too few choices for engine part repair. After about 18 months of searching and planning, the first engine arrived for teardown. At that time the company had only two employees.

In 2012 BP Aero received an FAA Part 145 repair station certificate for engine part repair. In 2014 it finished a building for its component repair work. That operation later grew to two shifts. In 2015 it saw a need for engine lease return services and began building a 100,000 square foot facility.

The site says BP Aero holds FAA, EASA, CAA and CAAC approvals. It also says it is licensed by the original equipment makers on its product offerings. Its hospital shop is described as FAA and EASA certificated. It handles repairs and lease return inspections.

For field service, the company lists worldwide FAA and EASA capability for quick turn aircraft on ground work. For teardown, it lists a tag within 10 days, a detailed parts list, and custom crates and packaging. Part overhaul covers cases, housings, supports, seals, disks, shafts and gearboxes. Special processes include heat treatment, shot peening and waterjet stripping.

In February 2024, ITP Aero completed its purchase of BP Aero. The site says this was ITP Aero's first maintenance acquisition and its first in the United States. In May 2024 BP Aero finished its first lease return inspection, preservation and QEC kit service for Leap-1A and Leap-1B engines. A QEC kit is a set of parts fitted around an engine.
